[6 January 2023 – Sackets Harbor, N.Y.] – The Architectural Glass and Metal Technician (AGMT) certification program more than doubled during 2022, with 681 glaziers certified. The total number of AGMT certified glaziers to date has reached 1,247. AGMT is North America’s only ANSI-accredited, third-party assessment of an experienced glazier’s knowledge and abilities – validated through written knowledge-based and hands-on performance-based testing.
The AGMT program ended the year with December testing events in Philadelphia, Pa.; Kansas City, Mo.; and San Leandro, Calif. During 2022, testing events were held in 31 cities within 22 states plus one Canadian province. Testing events included administering 41 written, knowledge-based tests and conducting 50 hands-on, performance-based tests. Over 750 candidates participated in testing.
Also in 2022, AGMT staff expanded to include 10 office and support team members along with nine traveling examiners.
“The AGMT program has reached its operational stride,” explained Program Administrator Scott Kennett. “We have the infrastructure and personnel in place to meet market demand, which has been steadily increasing. AGMT is established, it’s here to stay, and we’re ready and enthusiastic to move into the new year.”
AGMT will host its first testing event of 2023 in Springfield, N.J., in mid-January. Testing will take place nearly every week throughout the remainder of the first quarter. Program administrators anticipate certifications for 2023 on pace or greater than those of 2022.
“Along with North American Contractor Certification (NACC), the AGMT program ensures quality glazing installations,” said AGMT Program Administrator Jeff Dalaba. “The growth of the AGMT program and continued willingness to undergo rigorous testing shows how glaziers across the continent are making a commitment to construction quality.”
About AGMT
The Architectural Glass & Metal Technician (AGMT) program validates and recognizes world-class glazing knowledge and skills. It remains North America’s only ANSI-accredited, third-party personnel credential for architectural glass and metal technicians (glaziers). Certification provides an independent assessment of a glazier’s fundamental knowledge, skills, and abilities through written and hands-on assessments. The AGMT program and assessments were created with input and guidance from glazing, design, and construction industry experts. The program is managed and administered by an independent third-party, Administrative Management Systems, Inc., and sponsored by the Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council (AGMCC), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, public benefit organization.
